Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born on July 9, 1956, is an American actor. He is renowned for his dramatic and comedy roles and is considered an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother was initially named "Fraga" while his father was primarily English. Tom was born into the family of a "fractured family". He did not have any acting experience in college , and credits the inability to be cast in a university play as the reason for his beginning his career. He tried out for auditions in downtown Cleveland to be cast in a play at the theater for community members. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that's how his acting career began.
